Janet M. Walter Klein, 66

Janet M. Walter Klein, 66, of Northfield, Ohio, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 3:30 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2014, at her residence. She was born Dec. 15, 1947, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of William and Florence (Hemmert) Walter, who preceded her in death. On May 23, 1986, she married Norman C. Klein, and he survives.

Other survivors include, three step-sons, Craig Klein, of Mexico, Mark Klein, of Lemon Grove, Calif. and Scott (Laura) Klein, of Middlefield, Ohio; three step-grandchildren, Andrew Klein, Allison Klein and Rebecca Klein; a step-great granddaughter; a brother, Paul Walter, of Wapakoneta; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry Sturwold, Ruth Walter, Ina Walter and Clara Walter.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Richard and John Walter, and three sisters, Florence Walter, Marilyn Staats and Rita Sturwold.

Janet was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, in Wapakoneta, and Siena Heights University in Adrian, Mich. She managed the audio-video department of the Lima Public Library. She also taught fifth grade at Sidney Holy Angels School, and retired from the library of San Diego State University. For the past 15 years, she has worked at the Calvin Smith Library of Case Western Reserve University. Janet was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, in Hudson, Ohio. She was an avid reader.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Wapakoneta, with Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the Long & Folk Chapel of Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 13 S. Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta.
