Holiday season kicks off

November 4, 2013

Wapakoneta began preparing for the holidays only one day after Halloween, with the Wapakoneta Antique and Specialty Shops (WASS) sponsoring the Holiday Open House this weekend.
The event began Friday and will continue today and Sunday and will include most shops along Auglaize Street and a few other specialty shops. They will be extending their hours in celebration of the beginning of the holiday season, which, in Wapakoneta, is always the first weekend in November.
“We have such a wonderful blend of eclectic shops in Wapakoneta,” WASS President Landa Tomlinson said.
Shoppers can enjoy the downtown holiday decorations, including garland and snowflake lights, which have been set up in accordance with the event, as well as holiday music playing in the streets. Free carriage rides will be available to the public from noon - 5 p.m. on Saturday.
For more information on the Holiday Open House, see the Saturday, Nov. 2 edition of the Wapakoneta Daily News.
