Harold E. Krites, 85, of Wapakoneta, died at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Wapakoneta Manor.
He was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Auglaize County, the son of Cecilea (Taylor) and Virgil Krites, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 7, 1945, he married Margaret Roby, and she survives. They enjoyed over 66 years of marriage together.
Also surviving are a son, Robert (Cindie) Krites, of Lima; three grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Boyed, of Lima, Phillip (Ashley) Krites, of Jacksonville, Fla., Amber (Alberto) Fuentes, of Apollo Beach, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Michael Boyed, Kay Lynn Boyed, Heather Boyed, Kennedy Fuentes, and Cristian Fuentes; and a sister, Betty Fenneman, of Spencerville.
He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Howell; and three brothers, Kenneth Krites, Robert Krites, and Glenn Krites.
Harold retired from Superior Tube Company in Wapakoneta after 37 years of service. He attended the Buckland United Church of Christ. A U.S. Army veteran, Harold served during World War II in Germany. He was a member and past commander of the Wapakoneta VFW Post 8445. His other memberships included the American Legion Post 330 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 691, both of Wapakoneta. He was also active with the Boy Scouts of America for more than 10 years. He loved to travel with his wife in their motor home. They had traveled to all 50 states as well as overseas. He enjoyed wood working, golfing, and playing cards.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Adrian Sunday officiating. Burial will follow at Buckland Cemetery, where Military Rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
