Harold Engel, 82

Harold A. Engel, 82, of Wapakoneta, died at 11:20 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Wapakoneta Manor.
He was born Feb. 4, 1930, the son of Pearl (Elmers) and Adrian Engel, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 15, 1959, he married Wanda Krites, and she died Aug. 3, 1980.
Surviving are two daughters, Lois Engel (Lynn Koch), of Wapakoneta, and Kay Penrose, of Wapakoneta; a brother, Robert (Shirley Ann) Engel, of Wapakoneta; four sisters, Marie (John) Heintz, of Jackson Center, Dorothy (Richard) Krites, of St. Marys, Evelyn Wagner, of St. Marys, and Carolyn (Donald) Henschen, of St. Marys; and a former wife, Shirley C. Engel, of Lima.
He was preceded in death by sister, Ruth Engel; and two brothers-in-law, Art Lange and Elmer Wagner.
A farmer, Harold owned and operated the Harold Engel Lime Spreading Service. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moulton, where he was a former Sunday school teacher. He served as Moulton Township Clerk and zoning inspector for 28 years. A U.S. Army veteran, Harold served in Okinawa. He was a member of the Ohio Township Association.
Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Moulton, with the Rev. Joy Miller officiating. Burial is to follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton, where military rites will be conducted by Wapakoneta V.F.W.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
