Hanley E. Evans, 73

Hanley E. Evans, 73, of 1025 Hendricks Ave. in St. Marys, died at 2:50 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at his residence. He was born April 18, 1941, in Fonde, Ky., to Richard and Doshie (Snodgrass) Evans, Sr. On May 8, 1971, in Sidney, he married Elaine L. Lynch, who survives.

He is also survived by,  brother Richard (Edna) Evans, Jr., of Goshen, Ind., brother Ronnie (Mabel) Evans, of Troy, Tenn., brother Larry (Brenda) Evans, of Goshen, Ind., sister Kathy (Denny) Burden, of St. Marys, sister Etta Pruitt, of Wapakoneta, sister Beverly (Dan) Baker, of Wapakoneta, sister Susan (Sam) Goins, of Goshen, Ind., sister Teresa (Steve) Burger, of Goshen, Ind., sister-in-law  Kathryn (Rocky) Clark,  of St. Marys, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by, parents Richard and Doshie Evans, Sr., son Mark Evans, son Eddie Evans, sister Sylvia Lamb, sister Geraldine Harrell, brother Kenneth Evans, brother Gary Evans, brother Van Troy Evans and brother-in-law Michael Lynch.

He retired from the Dannon Yogurt Co., in Minster, where he worked as a janitor. He was a member of Eagles Lodge Aerie # 767 and a social member of VFW Post #9289, both in St. Marys.

Hanley appreciated the friendship he shared with his brother-in-law Denny Burden, and the support of the Amanda Klosterman family. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, gardening and working on automobiles. His pet dog, “Chloe,” also held a special place in his heart.

Rites are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2014, at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home (314 W. High Street Chapel) in St. Marys, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home on High Street.
