The Redskins varsity girls golf team finished third in a tri-match against Bellefontaine and Perrysburg at the Wapakoneta Country Club.
Perrysburg won the event with a scored of 175. Bellefontaine posted a 197. And Wapak turned in a 209.
Bellefontaineâs Jascey Vermillion carded a 41 to take medalist honors.
âWe played pretty good tonight,â Wapak coach Dawn West said. âThe golf course has changed in the last week to being very fast and hard, so our girls did a nice job of adapting to the condition change that they are not accustomed to.â
Courtney Knippen fired a 43 to lead the Redskins.
âI was very pleased with the play of Courtney Knippen tonight,â West said. âShe started off well and had one bad hole in the middle of her round and was able to really keep it all together and not let the bad hole take her out of her game.
âShe played very steady and was able to keep everything in check. It was a nice comeback from her first home match.â
Shelby Kohler shot a 52, followed by Hannah Smith at 56 and Zoe Rayburn at 58.
âWe just need to keep striving at getting our short games better,â West said. âThat is where we will continue to see the scores drop. Overall we played well, unfortunately we canât block or steal the golf ball from the competitors, we just have to play the golf course and hope we play it better then they do. â
Perrysburgâs Monica Dorner carded a team-best 42.
Wapak will be at home Monday afternoon at 1 against Defiance.
