Gerelda Anthony, 83

Gerelda “Gerry” Anthony, 83, of Wapakoneta, died at 4:50 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 3, 1928, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of Lillian (Morscheck) and Frederick J. Wahrer, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 19, 1953, she married John L. Anthony, and he survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Cec Anthony, of Plain City; Jill (Tony Thiery) Anthony, of Lima, Julie (Doug) Garwood, of Spencerville, Jenifer (Ben) Anthony-Cahyono, of Philadelphia, Pa.; two grandchildren, Jarett (Laura) Jones, and Kellen Jones; two great-grandchildren, Kia Monet Kohlhorst and Anthony Michael Jones; a sister, Connie (Ben Wise) Meier, of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; a brother, Terry (Suzie) Wahrer, of Cripple Creek, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Anthony, of Wapakoneta, and Nancy Oen, of Wapakoneta; and lifelong best friend, Mary Tabler.
She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Fred Pepple.
A homemaker, Gerry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline Singers and a graduate of Blume High School. She enjoyed sewing, but most especially she enjoyed spending time with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta with the Rev. Angelo Anthony officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Auglaize County Humane Society.
