Frederick D. “Fred” Egbert, 72
Frederick D. “Fred” Egbert, 72, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014, at his residence. He was born Feb. 25, 1942, in Findlay, the son of William D. and Mary (Shafer) Egbert, who preceded him in death. On April 15, 1977, he married LouAnn Bradford, and she survives.
Other survivors include, three brothers, Bill (Arlene) Egbert, of Arlington, Ohio, Tom (Lana) Egbert, of Mt. Blanchard, Ohio, Steve (Jill) Egbert, of Arlington; father-in-law, Paul (Ruth) Bradford, of Wapakoneta; brother-in-law, Gary (Barb) Bradford, of New Knoxville; sister-in-law, Linda (Larry) Lee, of Wapakoneta; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Don (Sondra) Egbert and Daniel Egbert; a sister, Colleen Woerner; two infant sisters, and his mother-in-law, Betty Bradford.
Fred was an owner and operator driving a truck and van. He delivered freight for several area businesses. A 1960 graduate of Mt. Blanchard High School, Fred served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966. He was a member of the Wapakoneta Breakfast Optimist Club and Brands Lake Fishing Club. His hobbies included fishing and being outdoors.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, state Route 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Dennis Gaertner officiating. Burial is to follow in the Pilger Rhue Cemetery, New Knoxville, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post #8445. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Wapakoneta Breakfast Optimist Club.
