FOOTBALL: Wapak fourth in computer rankings

October 19, 2011

The Wapakoneta Redskins remain fourth in the latest high school football computer ranking released by the Ohio High School Athletic Association Tuesday afternoon.
Wapak (8-0) trails Trotwood-Madison (8-0), Kings Mills Kings (8-0) and Tipp City Tippecanoe in the Division II, Region 8 points.
Only the top eight teams in points in each region qualify for the playoffs. The top four teams will have a home game for their playoff opener.
The Redskins have not mathematically clinched a playoff spot yet but do control their own destiny. A win Friday night at Shawnee will go a long way towards that end.
If the season ended today, Wapak would host Franklin (7-1) in the first round.
In Division VI, Region 24, the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers currently sit 10th in the points.
W-G is 5-3 but is still not mathematically eliminated.
The Tigers can earn a playoff berth if they win out their final two games against Sidney Lehman and Ridgemont and get a little help.
Marion Local (7-1), Fort Loramie (7-1) and Springfield Catholic Central (6-2) top the points in Region 24.
