Florience “Dick” R. Dicke, 93, formerly of 15597 Koenig Road in rural St. Marys, died 4:05 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home in Wapakoneta.
He was born May 21, 1921 in Mercer Co., OH to Florience and Anna (Moeller) Dicke, Sr.
He first married Lorine Duncan, who preceded him in death. He later married Gertrude “Trudy” Hibbs, who survives.
Also survived by: son Michael Dicke of St. Marys, son Larry (Jennifer) Dicke of New Knoxville, daughter Mary Ann Dicke of Milwaukee, Wis., son Ray Dicke of St. Marys, six grandchildren; Chad Dicke, Jessica Henkaline, Michelle Hughes, Abigail Kuck, Melissa Ekern, Chet Dicke three step-grandchildren; Quinton Johansen, John Johansen, Eric Johansen, numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, sister Marjorie Silvers of St. Marys.
Preceded in death by parents Florience and Anna Dicke, Sr., first wife Lorine Dicke, son Rudolph Dicke, brother Sylvanus Dicke, brother Donald Dicke, brother Lee Vern Dicke, brother Lester Dicke, sister Edna Hudson, sister Mary Margaret Dicke.
A veteran of the United States Army Air Force, he served his country during World War II.
He was a life-long farmer in Noble Twp. – Auglaize County.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and VFW Post # 9289, both in St. Marys.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Miller – Long & Folk Funeral Home (314 W. High Street Chapel) in St. Marys, with the Rev. Dr. Ed Bray, officiating. Burial, with graveside military honors, will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home on High Street.
