Flora twins advance to state for Botkins

Chloe Flora and Cameron Flora, sophomore twins at Botkins High School, each qualified for the cross country state championships with finishes inside the top 16 of their respective races Saturday.
Cameron Flora, with a time of 16 minutes, 57.67 seconds, was 14th in the Division III, Region 10 boys race Saturday at Troy High School, while Chloe Flora took seventh with a time of 19:48.14 in the Division III, Region 10 girls race.
The twins will race this coming Saturday in the Division III state championships at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, located east of Columbus. The girls meet will start at 11 a.m., while the boys meet will start at 1:30 p.m.
The Botkins boys team was sixth out of 16 teams Saturday with 202 points. A top-four finish would have qualified for state.
Aaron Fullenkamp (17:39.48) was second for the Trojans and 33rd overall out of 128 runners.
Austin Jones (47th; 17:56.42) placed third for Botkins.
Roger Miller (78th; 18:39.42) and Reid Manger (79th; 18:40.54) finished back to back for the Trojans to conclude their scoring five.
Jonathon Yenser (102nd; 19:20.59) and Jared Goubeaux (110th; 19:49.73) also competed for Botkins.
With 334 points, the Botkins girls team placed 15th overall out of 16 teams Saturday, needing a top-four finish to advance to state as a team.
Bethany Christman (79th; 22:47.27) was second for the Trojans.
Tayler Weatherhead (97th; 23:53.77), Mackenzie Brown (101st; 24:22.25) and Sarah Knoop (104th; 24:48.41) concluded Botkins’ top five.
Lakota Running Hawk (109th; 24:57.87) and Abby Johnson (111th; 25:05.94) also ran for the Trojans.
