Fall cook-off hopes to boost holiday cheer

August 6, 2014

The Waynesfield Sons of the American Legion Post 395 will host its 14th annual turkey cook-off Sept. 20 to help raise money for needy families at Christmastime.

The event will take place at the American Legion Post 395 on 104 W. Wapakoneta St. in Waynesfield. The turkey cook-off will begin at 10 a.m., followed by judging at noon and dinner at 1 p.m.

There is a $25 entry fee to compete in the cook-off and each team must provide their own turkey cooker. Turkeys are provided and must be picked up between 5 p.m. and close at Fan’s Pizza in Waynesfield on Sept. 19. The top three finishers will receive a cash prize. Competitors will be judged on the taste, smell, appearance and overall quality of the turkey.

Entry forms for the competition can be picked up at the American Legion or Fan’s Pizza.
