Eva Marie Briggs, 92, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:42 p.m., Sunday Oct. 16, 2011, at Wapakoneta Manor.
She was born July 8, 1919, in Sidney, the daughter of Eva Marie (Fogt) and Charles Evans Hughes. She was raised by Ida Mabel (Knittle) and Henry Edwin Wise of Islandview, Lakeview. On Nov. 9, 1940, she married Clinton Franklin Briggs, and he died May 18, 1981.
She is survived by two sons, David Clinton Briggs, of San Antonio, Texas, and Charles Joseph â€śJoeâ€ť (Vickie) Briggs, of De Graff; two daughters, Kathleen Sue â€śKathyâ€ť Widmark, of Wapakoneta, and Marilyn Kay Briggs, of Sidney; dear friends, Emma Lou Cornett, of Sidney, Rick and Edie Harshbarger, of Wapakoneta, and Jody Compton, of Toledo; and eight grandchildren, David Clinton (Jennifer) Briggs, of Lima, Tammy Marie Douce, of Ada, Barbara (Rex) Motter, of Waynesfield, Debra (Mike) Briggs, of Lima, Rex Allen (Melinda) Hartman, and Jason Eric Hartman, both of Wapakoneta, Christina Briggs, of Bellefontaine, and Kelly (Darrin)Walter, of De Graff; 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Eva (Kah) Lochard, of Wapakoneta.
Mrs. Briggs retired from Superior Tube Co. and Millerâ€™s Textiles, both of Wapakoneta, and Con Met, of Sidney. She was an avid sewer and seamstress.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, State Route 501, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Ron Boyer officiating. Burial is to follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton.
The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday and one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the funeral home.
