A Wapakoneta High School senior who attained a perfect score on his ACT and is involved in numerous extra-curricular activities was named the Auglaize County Franklin B. Walter All Scholastic Achievement Award winner at its annual banquet at WHS on Wednesday.

George Jose was chosen out of six area school districts to represent the county at a student recognition luncheon in Columbus on April 9. One student from all 88 counties in Ohio will be represented.

“It definitely feels great,” Jose said. “It makes me proud and I’m glad I’m considered a good enough representation of my county. I’m glad I can make my family and my town proud.”

The Franklin B. Walter All Scholastic Achievement Award was established in 1990 by the Ohio Educational Service Center Association to recognize an outstanding senior student from each county within the state of Ohio. Eligible students must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement as indicated by high school grades, test scores and awards.
