Ellen V. Drexler, 81, of Wapakoneta, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 4, 1930, in Augsburg, Germany, the daughter of Franzika and Nikolaus Brunnhuber, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 23, 1949, she married Walter L. Drexler, and he survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Gary (Debbie) Drexler, of Kent, Steve (Deborah) Drexler, of Lima, Kevin (Cheryl) Drexler, of Wapakoneta, and John (Nancy) Drexler, of Westchester; seven grandchildren, Meredith (Jonathan) Fraysure, of Maysville, Ky., Tasha Drexler, of Sandusky, Adam Drexler, of Dallas, Texas, Sydney Drexler, of Lima, Erica Drexler, of Wapakoneta, Nathen Drexler, of Fort Meade, Md., and Joshua Drexler, of Westchester; two great-grandchildren, Gracy and Aireana; and a niece, Waltraud (Gunter) Meissler, of Munich, Germany.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Torri Drexler; and a sister, Maryanna.
A homemaker, Ellen retired in 1999 after 30 years service as a matron with the Wapakoneta City Schools. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta. She was an avid bingo player. She enjoyed gardening, but most especially she enjoyed attending her grandchildrenâs activities.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thurday and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
