Edith M. Rivers, 89, of Otterbein-Cridersville, died 10:28 a.m., Monday, May 12, 2014, at Lima Memorial Health System. She had resided at Otterbein since Oct. 1997, after living in New Mexico and Colorado for over 50 years. She was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Wapakoneta, the daughter William T. & Emma C. (Schlegel) Frey-Dunifon, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 23, 1959, she married Robert R. Rivers of Estes Park, Colo., and he died March 31, 1993.

Survivors include two step-grandsons, Lester Rivers & Loren Rivers, Ariz., a step-great granddaughter, Riley Jo Rivers, Ariz., a brother, James Frey, Lima, a sister, Vickie (Jay) Seibert, Spencerville, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Frey, Otterbien-Cridersville, 17 nieces & nephews, and numerous great nieces & great nephews.
She was preceded in death by a step-son, Robert R. Rivers, and siblings and spouses, Robert (Evelyn) Frey, Earl Frey, Roberta (Ralph) Mummaugh, and Doris Frey.

Edith was a graduate of Blume High School, Wapakoneta. She was employed by the U.S. Air Force at Wright Field (WPAFB) Dayton, Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, N.M., and the Ladd AFB Fairbanks, Ala., for 17 years. She volunteered at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, Colo., for 26 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta, and a former member of the Wapakoneta Woman’s Club. Edith was a kind contributor to numerous programs and enrichment funds for the benefit of her friends at Otterbein-Cridersville.

At her request, her body was cremated and her cremated remains are to be buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colo.

A memorial service will be held for friends and family, 5:30 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Otterbein-Cridersville Community Center. Memorial contributions may be directed to Otterbein-Cridersville.
