Edith C. Bell, 100, of Wapakoneta, died at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at The Gardens of Wapakoneta. She was born June 17, 1914, in Uniopolis, the daughter of Floyd and Emma (Focht) Gesler, who preceded her in death. On March 17, 1936, she married John W. Bell, and he died Sept. 7, 1994.
Survivors include, two daughters, Patricia (Larry) Thuman and Nancy (Bob, deceased) Shaffer, both of Wapakoneta; six grandchildren, Kevin (Laurie) Thuman, Tracy (Michael) Clinger, Todd (Jackie, deceased) Thuman, Joni (Mark Place) Shaffer, Keith (Christina Dimas) Shaffer and Steven Shaffer; 13 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Kerry Thuman, a great-great-grandson, Mason Thobe, a sister, Joy Bondurant, and a brother, Richard Gesler, Sr.
A 1932 graduate of Blume High School, Edith retired from Fisher Cheese Co. in Wapakoneta after 30 years service. She enjoyed doing embroidering and counted cross stitch. She pieced over 50 quilts. She also enjoyed baking pies, cookies and making homemade noodles.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, state Route 501, Wapakoneta. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, also in Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Friday, and one hour prior to the service, Saturday, at the funeral home.
