Driver in stolen vehicle crashes into bridge rail

A driver operating a stolen vehicle lost control and crashed into the northbound guardrail of the bridge while traveling southbound across North Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta, at 2:39 a.m. on Wednesday.

Wapakoneta police officers responded and discovered the vehicle at the intersection of North Blackhoof and West Auglaize St.

According to the report, Bradley Drexler, 31, of Wapakoneta, was operating a 2008 Mercedes-Benz owned by Mike Swaney Buick GMC. Drexler is employed by the car dealership. The vehicle sustained disabling damage.

Drexler appeared to have minor injuries and was transported to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

Drexler was traveling 50 mph in a 25 mph zone. He appeared to be driving under the influence of alcohol. A blood test was taken, and the results are still unknown.

Drexler was arrested for operating a vehicle intoxicated and incarcerated at the Auglaize County Jail.

Charges regarding the theft of the vehicle are still pending.
