Dorothy M. Hittepole, of Wapakoneta, died at 10:34 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at her residence.
She was born in Botkins, the daughter of Clara (Freistuhler) and Joseph Werling, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 17, 1947, she married Chester E. Hittepole Sr., and he died Nov. 21, 2011.
Surviving is a son, Chester E. Hittepole Jr., of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Sharon Shoup, of Wapakoneta; three grandchildren, Scott Hittepole, Bridget Hittepole, and Staci (Jarrod) Neidemire; two great-grandchildren, Alex Shoup, and Jacob Neidemire; a brother, Carl Werling, of Wapakoneta; and a sister, Irene Metzger, of Wapakoneta.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Shoup; a grandson and wife, Shane and Mandy Shoup; and two sisters, Rose Mary Dilsaver and Esther McDonald.
A homemaker, Dorothy had worked at Zofkie’s Clothing Store in Wapakoneta. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the K of C Council 1272, Auxiliary, both of Wapakoneta. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Long & Folk Chapel of Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 13 S. Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta.
