Doris Swallow, 96

Doris M. Swallow, 96, of Lima, died at 8:01 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health Systems.
She was born June 1, 1917, in Lima, the daughter of Cecil M. (Copus) and Earl J. Cheney, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 26, 1942, she married Floyd D. Swallow, and he preceded her in death Feb. 24, 2008.
Surviving are two sons, Barry (Kandi) Swallow, of Lima, and Roger (Holly) Swallow, of Sugarland, Texas; two grandchildren, Keith Swallow and Kristen Maass; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Isabella, Andrew, and Alexander; a brother, Frank Cheney, of Georgia; and two sisters, Betty Gibbs, of Lima, and Jean Carder, of Delphos.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Cecil Dawson.
She was a 1935 graduate of Elida High School. She retired from Superior Tube, where she had worked on the assembly line. She was a member of the Wapakoneta First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening.
Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation, with the Rev. R.J. Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Shawnee Cemetery in Lima.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be given to the Wapakoneta United Methodist Church.
