Donald Fisher, 66

Donald L. ’Donnie’ Fisher, 66, of Wapakoneta, died Sept. 5, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima from complications following a stroke on May 27, 2012.
He was born Dec. 31, 1945, in Lima, the son of Hilda (Eisert) and Clem Fisher, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 23, 1968, he married Pam Opperman, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Michele (Mark) Stansley, of Sylvania; a son, Todd (Kathy Rolston) Fisher, of Uniopolis; five grandchildren, Mackenzie Stansley, Matthew Stansley, Mitchell Stansley, Lane Fisher, and Abigail Fisher; two sisters, Carolyn (Jim) King, of Botkins, and Marilyn (Ronnie) Platfoot, of Botkins; and four brothers, Jim (Paulette) Fisher, of Bowling Green, Kenny (Nancy) Fisher, of Botkins, Steve (Brenda) Fisher, of Lima, and Larry Fisher, of Wapakoneta.
Donnie retired in 2010 from Niswonger Chevrolet, Wapakoneta, after 47 years service. A 1963 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Wapakoneta, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Intrepid from 1967 to 1968. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta. His other memberships included the V.F.W. Post 8445, the Wapakoneta Country Club, and the K of C, Council 1272, all of Wapakoneta. He enjoyed golfing, spring and fall golf trips with the guys, and family vacations to the beaches. He especially enjoyed spending time with his five special grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Daniel Hunt officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 – 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
Contributions may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Renovation Fund or St. Rita’s Medical Center Development Fund.
