Dennis C. Egbert, 65, of Wapakoneta, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born March 30, 1947, in Sidney, the son of Myra L. (Neth) and Charles F. Egbert, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 20, 1971, he married Deborah K. New, and she died June 10, 1997.
Surviving are a sister, Doris J. Will, of Fort Wayne, Ind., a brother-in-law, Myron Opperman, of New Knoxville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Henrietta Opperman.
Dennis was a construction worker. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was awarded two Purple Hearts for valor.
Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Steven Nelson officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta VFW.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
