Defiance handles Wapakoneta, 158-178, in WBL match

The Wapakoneta Redskins fell two losses behind Western Buckeye League leader, the Bath Wildcats, after a 158-178 loss Thursday against the Defiance Bulldogs in a WBL varsity boys golf match at Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance.

The loss dropped Wapak to 4-2 in WBL play, while Bath remained perfect in league action at 6-0 with a 165-176 victory Thursday over Van Wert.

Bobby Crow led Wapak with a 40 on Thursday. Drew Wayman followed with a 43. Alex Gossard posted a 44. Jared Miller and Dan Bogan each shot 51 for the team’s fourth score. Nick Bruns carded a 52.

Defiance’s Ricky Bolman and Matt Belland were each match co-medalists with 38.

Wapak will return to WBL play Monday against the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans at Pike Run Golf Club in Ottawa.
