Day of treats

November 4, 2013

Owen, dressed as SpongeBob Squarepants, and his brother, Haiden Keith, dressed as a Power Ranger, went trick or treating on Saturday with thousands of other children in Wapakoneta and surrounding areas. Their mother found advantages and disadvantages to trick or treat during the day.

After a storm forced the postponement of trick or treat from Thursday evening to Saturday afternoon, several parents say they would prefer holding trick or treat during the evening hours, but many understood the reason for the change and pointed out the advantages and disadvantages to having their children out during the day.
On Wednesday afternoon, Wapakoneta Mayor Rodney Metz postponed trick or treat to Saturday from Halloween night because of expected inclement weather on Thursday. It was a rare time trick or treat was held on Halloween since Wapakoneta typically celebrates on the last Thursday of October, a week after the Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce Halloween Parade, which is held the second to last Thursday of that month.
For more information about trick-or-treat, see the Monday, Nov. 4 edition of the Wapakoneta Daily News.
