David J. Schmerge, 48

David J. Schmerge, 48, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:49 a.m., Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born Jan. 13, 1965, in Lima, the son of Lawrence J. and Madeline (Klausing) Schmerge, who preceded him in death. He was married to Karen Fulton Schmerge, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include, one brother, Thomas (Paula) Schmerge, of Wapakoneta; two nephews, David A. (MacKenzie) Schmerge, of Bellevue, and Nathan L. Schmerge, Yuma, Ariz; two nieces, Amanda J. Schmerge and Ashley M. Schmerge, both of Wapakoneta; a special cousin, Jane Williams.
David was retired. A 1984 graduate of Wapakoneta High School, he was a member of the Wapakoneta Community Worship Center and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #691, Wapakoneta. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
A memorial service will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, with Pastor Jerry Hall officiating. Burial will be later in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home where an Eagles memorial service will be 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be expressed at bayliffandeleyfh.com.
