David Garen, 54

David R. Garen, 74, of Leesburg, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2012.
He was born Aug. 5, 1938, in Canton, the son of Hazel V. and David H. Garen, who preceded him in death. He married Cletah M. Dudgeon in 1959, and she preceded him in death in 2009.
Surviving are four daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Fowler, Darla (Ashraff) Rampersaud, Marcia Close, and Teresa (Herberth) Garen-Corrales; eight grandchildren; a sister, Joan (Jim)VanDeventer; a mother-in-law, Cameo Dudgeon; a brother-in-law, Arthur (Moneen) Dudgeon; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Linda Campbell.
David graduated from Bowling Green State University. David enjoyed a career with the Social Security Administration in Defiance. He retired to Florida in 1997 with his wife to enjoy their version of “paradise.” David pitched horseshoes competitively and loved volunteering for several community organizations. David was a member of Elks and attended the First Baptist Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg, Fla.
