Young dancers discovered the true meaning of Christmas through helping locals in need this holiday season.
During the Wapakoneta Dance Centre’s “Holiday Spectacular,” goods and monetary donations were collected to give to the Christmas Cheer program this year. The event brought parents and children to visit with Santa with the admission of a food item. Many fundraisers, including raffles and refreshments, were organized for the cause.
The Dance Centre has collected donations for the past three years and continues to be one of the many leading organizations in the program.
For the Christmas Cheer program, local businesses, organizations and individuals donate canned goods, toys and money to help others in the community have a special Christmas.
While the donation deadline has passed, Wapakoneta Fire Chief Kendall Krites said he is always in need of volunteers to donate their time and efforts to helping sort, wrap and deliver all of the goods throughout the community.
Delivery day on Saturday will require the most help, Krites said. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the Wapakoneta Fire Department.
