CROSS COUNTRY: Botkins hosts Best in the West meet

BOTKINS — A host of state-ranked cross country team descended upon Botkins Community Park on Saturday for the Best in the West Cross Country Invitational.
In the varsity girls meet, the Botkins Trojans finished fifth behind Versailles, Fort Loramie, Minster and Spencerville — all ranked ahead of Botkins in the latest state poll.
Botkins’ top seven included Shelbie Bailey (15-21:23), Brittany Bailey (19-21:43), Liz Knoop (23-21:50), Elleah Cooper (41-22:37), Jackie Smith (46-22:55), Bethany Christman (47-23:01) and Renee Buehler (54-23:24)
The varsity boys finished sixth. The top seven included Roger Miller (21-18:34), Austin Jones (24-18:36), Seth Hoying (46-19:33), Josh Schwartz (53-19:47), Lucas Buehler (54-19:49), Tyler Egbert (80-20:34) and Ross Kohler (81-20:35).
The junior high boys team was crowned champions of their race, finishing first of 12 teams.
Cameron Flora led the way with a third-place individual finish.
Chloe Flora finished second in the girls race.
