Crafters show off wares at fundraiser

October 21, 2013

Wapakoneta area resident Laura Houser looks over items in a booth Saturday at the Wapakoneta Noon Optimists annual Craft Show. The event filled the cafeteria and gymnasium at Wapakoneta High School and attracted large crowds.

Four years ago, one Wapakoneta woman had yet to precision cut her first piece of wood with a scroll saw.
On Saturday Vickie Schaub manned a booth selling her creations at the Wapakoneta Noon Optimist Craft Show held in the Wapakoneta High School cafeteria and gymnasium.
“This is my first time having a booth anywhere,” Schaub said, sitting at the end of a table in the middle of gymnasium. “I think I am doing OK.”
Sitting on the three tables in the shape of a “U” are angels, crosses, clocks, praying hands and a military scene of soldiers raising a flag similar to the flag raising at Iwo Jima.
