Council seeks further review of issues

August 5, 2014

Councilors called on their committees to further review two items under discussion, specifically a proposed change in private swimming pool rules and hours for the new dog park.

An ordinance concerning raising the legal depth limit for private temporary swimming pools met with questions over whether safety issues were considered.

And a previous statement that all city parks are open “dawn-to-dusk” proved to be erroneous.

Kristin Doll, chair of the city’s tree commission, addressed council concerning a thread of emails circulating among council members and city officials regarding the inspection and possible replacement of trees during the forthcoming West Auglaize Street reconstruction project.

Doll explained that in many, if not all, cases, the tree commission was not contacted regarding the situation.

She advised council to include the tree commission on any correspondence since the commission will have the most up-to-date information on the tree situation.

Doll provided council with examples of cases in which questions were asked and provided responses from the tree commission and the local urban forester, Stephanie Miller, with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
