Connie S. Yahl, 67, of 02764 Salem Noble Road, Saint Marys, died at 7:53 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014, at her residence, following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 8, 1946, in Sidney, the daughter of Clifford and Mildred (Stiles) Elsass.
She married Joseph J. Yahl on June 17, 1967, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, and he survives at the residence.
She is also survived by her five children, Vickie Wehner, of Wapakoneta, Vern (Amy) Yahl, of Saint Marys, Vince (Erin) Yahl, of Troy, Laurie (Nick) Lapsevich, of Brunswick, and Kristy (Russell) Yonyon, of Columbus. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Stella and Milton Wehner, Brooke and Alex Yahl, Alyssa, Nathan and Caleb Yahl, and Reed Yonyon. She is survived by her sister, Jo Ann Elsass, of Saline, Mich., and her brother, Ron (Becky) Elsass, of Wapakoneta.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Doug Wehner.
She graduated from Buckland High School in 1964. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church and Auglaize Landmark and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She had prepared many funeral dinners for the members of her church, Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Glynwood. The joy of her life was watching her grandchildren grow up.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, Glynwood, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte as celebrant. Burial will follow at Saint Thomas Cemetery, adjacent to Saint Patrick’s Church.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to the Cancer Association of Auglaize County. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Condolences may be sent to Connie’s family via Millerfuneralhomes.net.
