Connie Lynn (Sholler) Cox, 68
Connie Lynn (Sholler) Cox, 68, of Celina, died peacefully in her sleep at her daughter’s home near Wapakoneta, surrounded by her children, Sunday morning, June 15th, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. after a brief illness.
Connie Lynn was born Jan. 26, 1946, in Wapakoneta, the oldest of six children, to the late Helen Mae (Sholler) Gallimore. On April 22, 1966, she was married to Allen Cox. They were later blessed with three children, and would go on to be married for 25 wonderful years until Allen’s untimely death on Aug. 17, 1992. Their union was a shining example of love and respect to everyone around them.
Connie and Allen settled near Waynesfield for a number of years, and owned and operated their C&G General Marathon Convenience Store, in New Hampshire, Ohio. Later on, she owned Country Cargo Gift Shop in Celina, Ohio. Connie, while a private person, was very settled in her Christian faith and beliefs. She led by example, not words. She loved animals of all kinds. More than one raccoon, rabbit, skunk and otherwise stray animal owed the entirety of his or her existence to Connie’s kind rearing over the years. She also cherished her time with her kids and grandkids. She made sure, on a daily basis, that their lives were enriched by her presence.
Connie was preceded in death by not just her mother and husband, but also by two brothers, Timothy and Joe Gallimore, and her grandparents, Jacob and Anna Sholler.
Connie is survived by her three children, Blaine Randy (Ingrid) Cox, of Endicott, N.Y., Jennifer (Jerry) Weeks, of Wapakoneta, and Kyle Wayne (Kelly) Cox, of Van Buren Township, Mich.; a sister, Shirley Ann Degen, of Celina; two brothers, Jonathon (Dolly) Gallimore, of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Patrick (Cathy) Gallimore, of Wapakoneta. She is also survived by her two beautiful granddaughters, Jennifer Ann and Carly Jo Cox, and five step-grandchildren, Jerry L. Weeks, III, Jordan M. Weeks, Jared W. Weeks, Jeffrey J. Baxter, II and Gaby M. Baxter. Also surviving is an uncle, Raymond Sholler, of St. Marys, and two very special aunts, Dorothy (Sholler) George and Lois (Sholler) Ruhm, both of Crestline, Ohio, who were both very much like sisters to Connie. Surviving nieces, nephews and cousins abound in both the Sholler and Cox Families. She also leaves behind an ‘extra’ special family member, Tracy House, of Wapakoneta.
Her favorite pastor and long-time family friend, Mark Foor, will be conducting her celebration of life, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, state Route 501 (Lincoln Highway), in Wapakoneta. Additionally, friends and family may call the funeral home on Friday, June 20, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service, Saturday. Burial will follow in the Walnut Hill Cemetery, near New Hampshire, Ohio, where she will rest next to Allen.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Auglaize County Humane Society.
