April 8, 2014

City council heard from a a variety of committees and guest speakers at its regular meeting Monday night.

The Lands and Buildings Committee, chaired by At-Large Councilwoman Rachel Barber, met on March 25 and discussed certain properties within the city that were considered deteriorating.

Most notable was the situation at Koneta Rubber. Director of Public Service and Safety Bill Rains said at the March 25 meeting that he expected remediation to be completed by March 28. However, Mayor Rodney Metz said he believes more loads have been dumped. At-Large Councilman Dan Graf said the city should be documenting activity at the site.

According to the meeting minutes, Rains said other property owners have been notified of problems.
