Continued repair and funding for the Auglaize County Jail was discussed at a commissioners meeting held at the law enforcement center on Tuesday.

“We’ve expended over $58,000 on this project so far,” Commissioner Doug Spencer said, noting that they have already exceeded the $50,000 threshold for the emergency repair after a bad cast iron pipe damaged the facility’s minimum security cell block plumbing in January.

“We quickly got New Knoxville Supply to come in and rip out the concrete where the cast iron was located underneath the flooring, replaced with PVC pipe, because the cast iron was all bad,” Spencer said. “So we’re just trying to finish the project up now with the flooring that we had to rip up in order to access the cast iron pipe and replace it.”
