Collision at Ohio 501, Infirmary

November 9, 2012

Wapakoneta Fire Department personnel along with troopers with the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and officers with the Wapakoneta Police Department help two motorists involved in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Ohio 501 and Infirmary Road.

The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Infirmary Road and Ohio 501.

While the investigation is incomplete, an officer at the scene said it appears a Honda CSV was north bound on Ohio 501 when they stopped and attempted to turn west onto Infirmary Road. The motorist did not see a Chevy Cavalier driving south on Ohio 501 and failed to yield while turning. The Cavalier came to rest off of the side of the road and the Honda was on its side in the middle of Ohio 501.

No passengers were in either vehicle other than the motorists who were both transported to a Lima hospital. Officers at the scene readily did not know which hospital both patients were taken to, but said both were conscious and talking following the accident.

The Wapakoneta Police Department, Wapakoneta Fire and EMS, and Cridersville Fire and EMS all responded to assist at the scene.
