Clinton N. ‘Goose’ Gossard, 78

Clinton N. ‘Goose’ Gossard, 78, of Lima, died at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2014, at his residence. He was born May 21, 1935, in Allen County, to Foster Nelson and Lureta E. Burden Gossard, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 14, 1958, he married Shirley, who survives.

Mr. Gossard had worked for BP Chemical Company and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 8445, the AMVETS Posts 333, and the American Legion Post 330, all of Wapakoneta. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus, bowled in several leagues and was a 700 Club member. He was a 1953 graduate of Spencerville High School.

He is survived by a son, Tony N. Gossard, of Dayton; a daughter, Kimberly (Stephen) Ewan, of Cincinnati; six grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Stephen, Molly, Mitchell and Nick; a great-granddaughter, Madalyn; two sisters, Barbara Roeder and Fairie Edmiston, both of Lima.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steven James Gossard, who died Aug. 21, 1963.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville. Memorial services will begin at 7 p.m. with Chaplain Herb Wilker officiating. Military rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 8445.
