Clara Stammen, 69

Clara Belle Stammen, 69, of Wapakoneta, died at 1:04 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born Oct. 17, 1942, in Cridersville, the daughter of the late Dorothy C. Botkins and Clarence Rhodes. On May 4, 1964, she married Thomas Marion Stammen, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael Allen (Julie) Stammen, of Wapakoneta, and Thomas Andrew Stammen, of Wapakoneta; two grandchildren, Linnea Stammen and Dakota Stammen; a great-granddaughter, Layla Saunders; and two brothers, Roger (Noni) Rhodes, of Bluffton, and Richard (Joann) Rhodes, of Ada.
Mrs. Stammen had first worked for the Lima Telephone Company, then went to Beer Barrel Pizza in Lima, where she was a cook, and then became a dietician with Cridersville Health Care. She had been a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, and was attending St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta with her husband. She enjoyed growing herbs in her garden and sharing them and also loved spending time cooking for her family. Family was very important to her and she valued time spent with them.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be given to the Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute.
