City vehicle allegedly stolen, destroyed in fire

A Wapakoneta Public Works Department vehicle was found engulfed in flames at 3:02 a.m. on Sunday, June 22 at the dead end of Stonybrook Drive, Wapakoneta.

Wapakoneta Police Officers responded to the 1993 Ford truck, which had been reportedly stolen. The entire cab and engine compartment were destroyed by the fire.

No one was near the vehicle at the time of the fire. According to the report, the vehicle was stolen from the Public Works Department parking lot on East Harrison Street and was last seen in that location at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, June 20. The vehicle is registered to the city of Wapakoneta.

No further details were available. The case remains under investigation by the state fire marshal.
