City recognized as top public power provider

The City of Wapakoneta was recently recognized by a national organization for its reliable electric operations.
The American Public Power Association, based in Washington, D.C., awarded the city its Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation on April 7. According to a news release, the designation is given to communities for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric services.

Brent McKinney, manager, electric transmission and distribution at City Utilities of Springfield, Mo., and chair of APPA’s RP3 review panel presented the awards during a national conference in Oklahoma City, Okla.

According to the release, Wapakoneta is one of 94 of the nation’s 2,000 public power utilities to earn the designation this year.
