Christmas Cheer in final drive

It’s almost time for Christmas Cheer.

The program provides gift boxes containing non-perishable food items and gifts for area families. Deliveries this year will be made Dec. 16.

But there’s still a lot of work to be done before that. Last year the program provided boxes to 240 families, which was down from 2016.

To make it all happen, the organization uses the junior fair building as a staging area for putting the boxes together.

“We have the Junior Fair Building as a staging area as of Dec. 10,” said Christmas Cheer Chairperson and former Wapakoneta Fire Chief Kendall Krites.

Food donations should be made before then. Monetary donations are accepted anytime.

Donations may be taken to any of the four fire departments — Wapakoneta, Buckland, Uniopolis and St. Johns — although the Wapakoneta Fire Department is preferred.
