Charles Leo Mitchell, 91, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
He was born May 24, 1921, in Buckland, the son of the late Lela Vivian (Meeker) and Charles Martin Mitchell. On June 14, 1947, he married Mary Maxine Lee, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Also surviving are a son, Ronald Dean (Margaret C. â€˜Peggyâ€™) Mitchell, of Wapakoneta; a grandson Jeremy Leo (Jamie) Mitchell; three great-grandchildren: two brothers, Orval Eldon Mitchell, of California, and Norman Roy Mitchell, of Michigan; a sister, Ada Pauline Jackson, of Lima; and a daughter-in-law, Tina Mitchell, of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Wayne Mitchell; and three sisters, Vera Leota Piko, Olive Pauline Hiner and Betty June Hall.
After working 19 years at the Lima Tank Depot he went on to work with Shross Construction and Campnell Construction. He was a U. S. Army Veteran during World War II. He was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church of Lima, the V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima, and the American Legion 191 of Spencerville.
Services are at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home in Cridersville, with the Revs. Eric Allen and Barry Hall officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Buckland Cemetery. Military rites will be observed by V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
