Charles Hugh Frederick Sr., 74, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at Auglaize Acres.
He was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Duncanville, Ill., the son of Mary Ellen (Eveland) and Harley H. Frederick, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 5, 1955, he married Elizabeth Mae Crist, and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Also surviving are a son, Charles Hugh (Sharon) Frederick, Jr., of Wapakoneta; four daughters, Mary L. Niemela, of Seville, Debbie S. (Tim) Walker, of Seffner, Fla., Brenda M. (Jeff) Luma, of Wapakoneta, and Charlene H. (Steve) Luma, of Wapakoneta; 18 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; three brothers, Robert L. (Pat) Frederick, of Marysville, Harley H. (Pam) Frederick, Jr., of Albert Lea, Minn, and William D. (Carolyn) Frederick, of Celina; six sisters, Lila M. Shroyer, of Wapakoneta, Mary A. Horton, of St. Marys, Cheryl E. (Donald) Huebner, of Quaker City, Rebecca E. Meeker, of Tulsa, Okla., Anna M. Frederick, of St. Marys, and Peggy S. (Elmer) Davis, of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, James Robert Luma; a brother and spouse, John H. (Marilyn) Frederick; and two brothers-in-law, Howard Shroyer and Robert Horton.
He retired as an auto parts counterman and had worked at Car Quest and Auglaize Automotive. He was a member of Living Faith Ministries in Mendon and former member of the Wapakoneta Eagles, Aerie 691. An avid reader, he enjoyed watching football.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with the Revs.Steven Coburn and Jeannie McLaughlin officiating.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family or the Living Faith Ministries.
