Charles Arthur 'Charlie' Rhoades, 88

Charles Arthur “Charlie” Rhoades, 88, 137 Lawton Street, Greenwood, S.C., husband of Elinore Mae Ankerman Rhoades, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Hospice House.

Born in Wapakoneta, he was a son of the late Gladys (Keiber) and Glen Rhoades.

Charlie was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired as general manager of Phoenix Beauty Supply, in Phoenix, Ariz., after 32 years of service.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 20, the V.F.W. and Lupo Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served as church treasurer for 10 years and also served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, the Finance Committee, and was a trustee of the church.

Surviving is his wife of 66 years; a daughter, Patricia Diane Rhoades, of Greeenwood, S.C.; and a brother, Gene E. Rhoades, of St. Marys.

 A gathering of friends is to be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday at Harley Funeral Home in Greenwood, S.C.

Box 997, Greenwood, S.C., 29648; or to Lupo Memorial United Methodist Church, 112 Lanham St., Greenwood, S.C., 29648.
