At the 2014 Auglaize County Cattlemen’s Association Banquet, Jay Clutter announced that he will be stepping down as president of the organization.

“I’ve enjoyed being your president for the past three years, but I think it’s time for somebody else to have the pleasure to do so,” Clutter said.

Auglaize County Cattlemen’s Association Treasurer Vicki Winkler applauded Clutter’s efforts and asked if he would reconsider.

“We don’t want him to leave,” Winkler said. “He says he’s stepping down in office and we keep trying to tell him that he’s not. We just really appreciate everything he’s done.”

Clutter has been president since 2011.

A new president and a new team of officers will be elected at the association’s monthly meeting on March 18.

A little more than a hundred people showed up to the banquet Tuesday evening at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds, including State Rep. Tony Burkley of House District 82, and Jim Buchy of House District 84.

Buchy congratulated the youth in attendance for their efforts in agriculture.

“You’re privileged to be living in the best place in the world, and that’s what we have in west central Ohio,” he said. “I congratulate and applaud you for what you’re doing in 4-H and FFA because someday, if there’s 20 youth in the room today, 14 of you will be here 14 years from now. That’s why we have such a great place to live.”

The organization also crowned its 2014 Beef Queen and Princess at the banquet.

Eighteen-year-old Kerrie Miller and 14-year-old Caitlin Schaub were named queen and princess, respectively.
