Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon

Substantial amounts of cash involved in an undercover drug transaction was thrown from a suspect vehicle during a police pursuit Tuesday night in Wapakoneta.
Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon told the Wapakoneta Daily News this morning that no other evidence was thrown from the vehicle of a Dayton man as law enforcement officers pursued him during an undercover illegal drug sale set up by the Auglaize/Mercer Grand Lake Drug Task Force.
Adrian M. Trone, 23, of Dayton, remained in the Auglaize County Jail this morning after delivering suspected heroin to the Wapakoneta area at approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday. The heroin had an approximate street value of $3,000.
“When Task Force members and officers moved in to make the arrest the suspect took off and a pursuit ensued,” Solomon said.
It was during the pursuit that the money was thrown from the suspect’s vehicle within Wapakoneta city limits, the sheriff said.
The pursuit went into the city of Wapakoneta and northeastern Auglaize County before officers lost the vehicle. It was located a short time later, at approximately 9:15 p.m. according to the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office log, in Allen County behind the Speedway at the intersection of State Route 65 and Interstate 75. The suspect was taken into custody inside the Speedway by members of the Task Force.
Assisting with the arrest and pursuit were members of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Wapakoneta Police Department, Cridersville Police Department, Waynesfield Police Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
“I hope with all of the drug arrests and all of the work from area agencies, the drug problem in this area will decrease,” Solomon said. “We will con-
tinue to battle the problem.”
The investigation continues, as do efforts to thwart the conveyance of drugs into Auglaize County.
Trone is one of several Dayton men arrested recently by the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office for attempting to sell drugs in Auglaize County.
