No violations were reported during a recent week of emphasis on school bus safety, an Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) official says.
OSHP Wapakoneta Post Assistant Commander Sgt. Kristina Bennett said troopers followed 110 school buses on portions of their routes and worked school zones during restricted hours as part of National School Bus Safety Week at the end of October.
“There were no violations for passing a stopped school bus witnessed by our troopers and no citations were issued for speeding violations in a school zone,” Bennett said.
She reminded the public that motorists are required to stop for a school bus when its red lights are on and that motorists should be prepared to stop any time they see a school bus, especially if the yellow lights are activated.
