Burglary at Clark gasoline, convenience store

November 18, 2012

Police Chief Russ Hunlock

Approximately 20 cartons of cigarettes were stolen early Friday morning from the Clark gasoline station on Apollo Drive.

Wapakoneta Police Department officers responded to an alarm at the gasoline station and convenience store at 2:13 a.m. Friday at the Clark gasoline station, known as H&F Food Mart.

“There was forced entry into the building and we believe several cartons of cigarettes were taken from the establishment,” Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock said. “At this point in time we have a person of interest, but we have not been able to locate the suspect at this time.”

Hunlock said it appears nothing else was taken from the convenience store, but the burglary remains under investigation. He also noted the burglary appears to be the work of a single person.

The cigarettes are likely resold.

“Typically they are for resale especially when they are taken in such a large quantity,” Hunlock said. “They turnaround and sell them for cash.”
