Budget takes toll on roadway work
It’s come down to two miles.
The harsh winter, the cost of materials and reduced revenue has resulted in the county — out of 350 miles of roadway — only being able to resurface two miles with hotmix this year.
“The 2014 road improvement program for the 350-mile county system will be comprised mostly of pavement maintenance applications (chip seal, crack seal, micro-surfacing) versus hotmix paving due to lack of funding,” said Auglaize County Engineer Doug Reinhart in a report submitted to the Board of County Commissioners on Thursday.
