BOWLING: Wapak boys remain perfect
COLDWATER — The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity boys bowling team remained unbeaten thanks to a convincing win over the Ansonia Tigers on Saturday at Pla-Mor Lanes in Coldwater.
Wapak turned in a meet-high score of 3,087 to Ansonia’s 2,199.
Anthony Kennard rolled a best game of 248, the second-best game of the day behind Marion Local’s Scott Schoenlein (255). Kennard also had a 209.
Also for the Redskins, Austin Krites bowled games of 223 and 204.
Zach Miller recorded a 201 and a 194. Chandler Kaeck turned in a 198. And Luke Manger posted a 195.
Wapak remained unbeaten on the season at 5-0 and held its spot atop the West Ohio High School Bowling Conference Standings with a team average of 996 to second-place Versailles’ 943.
Versailles, Coldwater and Ottawa-Glandorf are the only other unbeatens.
Wapak will play Celina (0-5) at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Miracle Lanes in Fort Recovery.
The Redskins girls team upped its record to 4-1 with a 2,416-1,865 win over Minster on Saturday.
Megan Gibson (214 best game) and Casey Feltz (213) paced Wapak. Haley Grieves chipped in with a 180.
The Redskins sit fourth in WOHSBC standings behind Coldwater, St. Marys and Versailles.
Wapak will face New Bremen (0-5) at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29 at Woodcrest Lanes in Union City.
