Wapakoneta City Schools board members shared kudos from the community during a regular meeting Tuesday.
Ron Mertz first complimented the Wapakoneta High School band on outstanding performances during the football season and then said he recently had a knock on his door with a personal thank you from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for a program held for veterans at Wapakoneta Middle School.
He commented on the respect shown the veterans, many of whom said they would never miss the program.
“The students stood up and clapped when the first veteran walked in the door until the last one came through,” Mertz said.
